NMEA 2000 and NMEA 0183 connectivity- With the plug and play functionality of NMEA 2000, the M506 can easily connect to a NMEA 2000 network and interconnect with other equipment. Also the NMEA 0183 input/output can be used for external GPS/NAV interface.
Second station option - The optional COMMANDMIC, HM-195B/SW provides second station capability for using the M506 from a separate location. Most functions including DSC and AIS functions can be controlled from the COMMANDMIC and can be used as an intercom between the radio and the COMMANDMIC.
Icom is our premiere radio of choice - the build quality and components are very good, and they have a good assortment of features, such as horn, 2 way hailer and command mic functions.
The M506 is an excellent example, with a big screen and with NMEA2000 integration makes it very easy to hook up to your chartplotter.
Be careful when comparing prices for this model as some parallel importers are importing the cheaper, non NMEA2000, non AIS version.
These radios are also available in Rear Mic versions, which we mainly use for integration into the Setcom intercom systems. Call us for details.
